Pre-requisites: PADI Open Water or equivalent
Exploration, Excitement, Experiences.
That’s what the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about. And no, you don’t have to be “advanced” to take it it’s designed so you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water course. The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water. This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your PADI instructor. This course builds on what you’ve learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving.
You’ll hone your skills by completing five adventure dives that introduce you to some of diving’s most rewarding and useful specialty activities. These skills make diving much more than underwater sightseeing.
From the PADI Adventures in Diving program, complete Underwater Navigation and the Deep Dive, plus 3 additional Adventure Dives to earn the Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
We suggest Night, Peak Performance Buoyancy and Wreck.
With your Advanced Open Water Rating, you are qualified to dive to 30m, allowing you to explore deeper sites including the lower levels of South Australia's premiere wreck dive, the exHMAS Hobart.
Our Advanced Open Water Diver course package includes:
- The Adventures in Diving manual and slate
- 3 boat dives: (Deep & Wreck) on the ex-HMAS Hobart, with drinks and a BBQ between dives on board, and the Night dive at Rapid bay.
- 2 shore dives Underwater Navigation and Peak Performance Buoyancy
- Certification costs, air fills (unless staying away), instructor fees, glow stick for the night dive, certificate and certification card.
- Scuba equipment hire (take $50 off the cost of the course if you have your own full scuba kit including 2 tanks)
Not included in the cost of the course:
- Accommodation if required
- Transport to and from the dive sites (car pools may be available by prior arrangement)
- Specialist equipment including underwater slate and torch
Please note:
We will provide a compass for the navigation dive, but you will need your own torch for the night dive. All Underwater Sports students receive 10% discount off RRP for equipment and accessories.
Air is provided free for this course unless you are staying away.
How it works:
The Advanced Open Water Weekend is run regularly at Rapid Bay/Second Valley with Wreck and Deep dives on the exHMAS Hobart.
A typical schedule is as follows:
- Saturday afternoon: Shore dives usually at Port Noarlunga, Rapid Bay or Second Valley, with Underwater Navigation and Peak Performance Buoyancy.
- Saturday evening: single boat dive from Marina St Vincent - Night dive at Rapid Bay
- Sunday: Boat dives from Marina St Vincent - Deep Dive on exHMAS Hobart, Wreck Dive on exHMAS Hobart .
You also have the option of completing some of your adventure dives at another time, then doing your deep and wreck dives on the exHMAS Hobart. See the next option (Adventures in Diving) or call the shop for details. Please note that you must complete at least one other Adventure Dive before taking the Deep Dive on the ex-HMAS Hobart.
