Pre-requisites: PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent

The Sidemount configuration began in cave-diving, and has evolved to be suitable for recreational open water diving.

A sidemount configuration (scuba tanks alongside of the diver) offers more flexibility and better steamlining options. On this course you will learn about the many benefits of diving with a sidemount configuration.

There are 5 key benefits of Sidemount Diving:

1. With a proper side mount configuration a diver can transport two much smaller cylinders to the water before gearing up, reducing the weight of scuba gear on the surface and during entry and exit points.

2. You have two independent air sources for redundancies underwater

3. You have increased ability to move weight (cylinders) for proper trim

4. You are more streamlined underwater

5. You have an increased ability to access gear underwater (for gas shutdown etc).

Sidemount Certification means that you will be qualified to plan, organize, make and log open water dives in a properly configured side mount configuration.

Includes theory session(s) plus four dives.

Course cost $675pp. (No additional surcharge for a private Sidemount course.)

Does not include equipment hire, however a Sidemount BCD and Regulators can be hired at an additional cost.

A Sidemount course and Equipment Package deal is available if you purchase your Sidemount kit from Underwater Sports.
